Police are monitoring a site in East Cowes which is being occupied by travellers.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said officers were regularly visiting the GKN site off Saunders Way, after travellers appeared there last night (Sunday).

Four caravans, a white Transit van and a dog kennel have been seen at the site, which is owned by the Isle of Wight Council but leased by GKN.

The spokesperson said the situation was being regularly assessed in co-operation with GKN and the council.
