HM Coastguard has been assisting police with a ‘concern for welfare’ incident in Ryde this afternoon (Monday).

Ryde Rescue was also called, along with Bembridge Lifeboat, to an incident near to Ryde Canoe Lake.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

“We were called at 2pm to reports of a concern for welfare regarding a man who was in the water close to Esplanade Road, Ryde.

“Officers attended and the male walked back to the shore.”

The IW Ambulance Service was called as a precaution, but there were no signs of any injuries – according to police.
