His sixth studio album, Listen, was released worldwide in November 2014.
Making the announcement on Isle of Wight Radio, Festival organiser, John Giddings, said:
“It brought a tear to my eye when I announced it. I think the combination is incredible.
“I had David Guetta on the Rihanna tour. After the success of calvin Harris, I thought he’s the only other one of that calibre who could command 50,000 people in a field.
“I also love Run DMC, because they are fanatstic. I think the two acts together will be a really natural combination. Run DMC will be on first, followed by David Guetta on the Main Stage.
“The Isle of Wight is a special place with a rich heritage, going back to the Festival in 1970.”
Other acts announced today (Wednesday) include Bastille, George Ezra and Rag’n’Bone Man.
