The Great Britain Under 23 speedway team will bring a flavour of the sport’s national action to the Isle of Wight in 2017.

Where previously the team has held its pre-season training event abroad, this February it will be on the Isle of Wight.

The Wightlink Warriors’ Barry Bishop says it is a “massive result” for Ashey Stadium.

He has a three year plan for the team and says 2016 was good to them:

“2016 was a tremendous year…from a standing start to building a successful team, both on and off the track.

“We’ve hooked in with the business community. We were invited to the Houses of Parliament.”

“We plan to see both the Warriors and Smallbrook Stadium grow.”
