The Isle of Wight’s new High Sheriff says he is ready to support and promote the Island.
Ben Rouse was officially sworn in at a ceremony in the Durbar Room at Osborne House on Monday (10).
Mr Rouse – who runs a financial services business – takes over from outgoing High Sheriff, Robin Courage.
“I’m on hand for any events that people on the Island want me to celebrate with them.
“I also want to help promote charities on the Island. I think there is a fracturing of society to a degree.
“I believe the ‘Old School’ project we are running with Cowes Enterprise College and Christ the King college will help bring the older generation together on the Island, because we know that loneliness is a problem here.”
Mr Rouse also paid tribute to the outgoing High Sheriff:
“Robin has been a wonderful ambassador for the Isle of Wight and it has been great working with him, getting ready to take on this role.
“He has been instrumental in Isle of Wight Day and I know he will continue to play an active role in the event. We will be supporting that.
“He has done a tremendous job in the role as High Sheriff.”
