An Isle of Wight man arrested in connection with a fire that ripped through a Shanklin building has been released from bail.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed a 39 year old man will face no further action.

A fire gutted a flat on the corner of Shanklin High Street and Victoria Avenue in February.

Seven people were evacuated and rescued from the building, including a 39-year-old man who was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

An 18 year old man – also arrested on suspicion of arson – was released from bail last month.
