Police on the Isle of Wight are warning residents about possible ‘rogue traders’ trying to sell items from the back of a van.

Police said they have received several reports over the last couple days of two Ford Transit vans and a maroon Mitsubishi Shogun travelling around the Island.

Police believe the occupants of these vehicles are trying to sell items of machinery including generators.

A police spokesperson said:

“We work closely with Isle of Wight Trading Standards and we would both like to remind all residents on the island to be aware of purchasing items from the back of vehicle from a stranger.

“Any concerns please don’t hesitate to report this to the Police via 101 or the I.O.W Council Trading Standards.”
