Vandals have attempted to break into an Isle of Wight Football Club – causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
During the early hours of Thursday morning, a door was ripped off its hinges and severely damaged at Shanklin Football Club at the County ground.
Shanklin FC Chairman, Richard Priest, said:
“We are a wholly voluntary club with limited resources, and are trying to improve our facilities for the benefit of local young people and the wider community, and criminal activity such as this not damages the club but also impacts on the local community.
“We have asked local residents to report any suspicious activity, and we have asked Police to increase patrols, in addition to increasing the security measures we have in place.
“We’d like to thank the local community for their support in addressing anti-social behaviour in and around the County Ground, and the Clubhouse, and if anyone has information about the perpetrators of this and other incidents, we would ask them to contact the Police.”
