The Wightlink Warriors speedway team is preparing for the penultimate National League meeting of the season which will see the Mildenhall Fen Tigers arrive at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium on Thursday (7).

Last season, meetings between these two sides were extremely close and exciting affairs and there is no reason to think that this match will be any different.

With new riding averages in place from 1 September, Warriors team manager Jackie Vatcher has the opportunity to switch the riding order and hopes this may see a change in her sides’ fortunes.

She said:

“The last time we won a league match was 27 July and it’s high time we added three more points to the league table, especially after Buxton picked up two points in a surprise away draw at the weekend.

With James Cockle moving up to ride at number one, I’m also switching Ben Wilson and Connor Coles to see if this can give us a better finish over the closing heats.”

Gates will open at 5.30pm, open pit access will be available from 5.45-6.15pm, the rider parade will be at 6.45pm ready for tapes up at 7pm. Derek Sandy will be performing on the night and the mini Warriors interval race will give another opportunity to the kids to ride / run round one lap of the speedway circuit.

With the last meeting not too far away, fans are advised that the Warriors will be staging their end of season party on Saturday 14 October in The Premier Lounge at Smallbrook Stadium. The adult ticket price will be £10 to include food and disco as well as awards presentations. They will be available from track shop on match nights.
