A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling ill on board a vessel off the Isle of Wight today (Monday).
Bembridge RNLI said it launched at around 6am this morning by UK Coastguard to the Offshore Supply Ship Ievoli Cobalt, located in St Helens Roads, following a report that a crew member had possibly suffered a stroke.
Two crew members were transferred to the Ievoli Cobalt, who after an initial assessment, carried out CPR on the casualty until the arrival of the Coastguard helicopter’s paramedic.
The casualty was evacuated by helicopter and flown to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
Having picked two crew members back up, the lifeboat returned to Bembridge.
