Isle of Wight Petrol Station Wins Award

An Isle of Wight petrol station has received national recognition at a forecourt standards competition organised by UK fuel supplier GB Oils.

Fairlee Service Station, Newport, won ‘Best GB Oils site’ at Superstation 2012, at a ceremony at the home of the Ryder Cup venue, The Belfry.

Paul Muncey, Head of Retail Sales, GB Oils, congratulated the sites owner, Simon Flack and his team for being industry ‘torch bearers’ and setting the highest standards of service and presentation: “We are extremely appreciative of your commitment to this initiative and your tireless efforts to provide the best possible offering to customers.”

“It was a surprise, especially against the calibre of the other finalists, but we’re all very proud to have won the award,” confirms Simon. “We’re a family-run business and have been here for 56 years now; while it’s getting harder and harder to compete against big supermarkets in the area, we believe the key to success is having good staff, understanding the needs of the customer and loving your business.”
