Ultra athlete wins gruelling marathon

Iron man Dave Berridge has won the gruelling 352-mile 6633 Ultra Marathon.

Dave, 52, of Thorley, was first to finish the race in Canada, widely regarded as the toughest, coldest and windiest extreme ultra marathon.

The marathon started in Yukon on March 22, and Dave trekked across the Dempster highway in extreme conditions to Tuktoyaktuk, on the banks of the Arctic Ocean.

Dave was only the seventh person to finish the race, which started in 2007.

He was raising money for Great Ormond Street children’s Hospital.
