Ryde firefighters were called at 8.18am this morning (Friday) to a car fire on Bettesworth Road.
The vehicle was well alight when the crew arrived before it was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reel jets.
The car caught fire in the car park of Haylands Primary School, with one eye-witness reporting that children were 'visibly upset.'
The school is reopen, with students now allowed to return.
HIWFRS are making the scene safe following a diesel spillage.
The fire service received the stop message at 8:46am.
