Emergency services have been called to a serious incident at Yaverland this afternoon (Sunday).
Coastguard teams, police, Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and the ambulance service are all on scene at Yaverland beach.
The air ambulance has also been called to the incident.
It’s understood a female is in a serious condition after suffering a medical episode.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, a HM Coastguard spokesperson said:
“We had a call just before 4pm reporting a woman in the water.
”Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams are there, along with IOW Ambulance service.
”The woman is out of the water and in the hands of ambulance service”.

A woman has sadly passed away at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency crews.
