“Disappointingly high” drink and drug drive figures are being reported by Hampshire Constabulary following their Christmas campaign. Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, arrests were up 9.1% on last year. The Isle of Wight had the lowest number of arrests – 16 or nearly 7% the overall tally. Operation Holly ran from 1 December the first until 1 January and in all 240 people were arrested. There was a last minute drop on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day but officers say it’s just not good enough.
