A man’s pleaded guilty to arson following a fire at a church in Carisbrooke.
23 year old Kevin Lee Williams from Downsview, Sandown Isle of Wight pleaded guilty at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Wednesday).
He’s due to be sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on the 17th February.
A 28-year-old man from Newport, Isle of Wight and a 15-year-old boy from Newport, Isle of Wight were both re-bailed by police following the incident until January 3, 2012 pending further enquiries.
Three other men, aged 18, 20 and 24, from the Isle of Wight were released from police bail with no further action.
Emergency services were called to St Mary’s the Virgin Church in Carisbrooke near Newport at 5.30pm on Sunday, November 27, 2011.
The alter had been destroyed by fire and the church filled with smoke.
