The Wightlink Raiders coach Jeremy Cornish says players have been fitting in extra training this week ahead of the first game of 2012.
The lads welcome Invicta to Ryde Arena tonight (Saturday).
In his new year message he says “the guys are ready to get back to work and have all had a nice time away from the rink visiting friends and family. This Saturday we have Invicta and we have some work to do to make sure we are prepared and we carry on where we left off before the break. Invicta always has a good team and we need to make sure we close down the top players they have by playing physical and making sure we stay out of the penalty box.”
Cornish added, “We will be working mostly on our fitness, after a couple weeks layoff it’s important we are ready to outwork Invicta from the drop of the puck. The next couple of weeks will be interesting for our team, we have a couple of extra forwards, so it’s going to be difficult figuring out where everyone will fit in for the last half of the season and playoffs. It’s a good problem for us to have, so I hope the guys battle hard in practice and in games to make sure they show they want to be part of the club.”
Face off tonight is at 6pm.
