One person has been treated for smoke inhalation after a flat fire in Shanklin last night.

Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue were called to Atherley Road at 23.54 last night (Sunday).

Four breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used to tackle the blaze at the terraced property.

One person was treated at the scene.

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue left the scene at 01.06 this morning.


A 56-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

He has been taken to Newport Police Station for further questioning.
