An Isle of Wight road has been closed this morning (Wednesday) after a chemical leak from an agricultural vehicle. UPDATE @ 12:21 The road has now been reopened according to police
Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue were called to the incident on Shorwell Shute by the driver at 05.38 this morning (Thursday).
Three fire crews are at the scene where the road has been closed for safety.
Police have also been alerted to the chemical leak on Shorwell Shute.
Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.
According to the Isle of Wight Council, Clatterford Rd (from Waverley pub to Walkers Ln including Nodgeham Lane) remains closed.
The spillage was successfully contained by the fire service and did not enter any drains.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said the incident, which involved a crop spraying vehicle, had now been dealt with and crews left the scene at 8:58am.
The incident had been handed over to police and the Environment Agency.
