Ten new eco-friendly buses, each costing more than £180,000, have been unveiled by Southern Vectis.
The new Enviro 400 buses join its fleet of 59 vehicles and will be used on the route 9 from Newport to Ryde. The buses are powered by eco-friendly Euro 5 engines and are equipped with CCTV. They also provide low floor easy access with space to carry a wheelchairs and baby buggies. Officials at the launch held in St James’s Square, Newport, included Andrew Turner MP and Cllr Ian Ward, chairman of IW Council,. Ed Wills, operations director of Southern Vectis, said:
“The investment is proof of our ongoing commitment to the offer of a reliable, safe and quality bus service for Islanders.”
