Police are appealing for witnesses following  an East Cowes crash which took the life of a local man last night (Tuesday).

According to police, the East Cowes crash involved a Land Rover and a Vauxhall Corsa and happened just after 8pm on Whippingham Road. The driver of the Corsa, a 46-year-old man from East Cowes, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Land Rover, a 44-year-old man, was taken by road ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital. He suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital. The IW NHS has told Isle of Wight Radio that the man’s condition is stable. Officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision or either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward as they may have information which may assist the investigation.
