A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Eastern Yar.
Flooding is possible for the Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge, and Low lying land and roads will be affected first. About 15 millimetres of rainfall has fallen in the last six hours. River levels in the upper catchment are still rising, and are likely to peak in the next couple of hours. River levels at Alverstone will continue to rise, and are likely to peak late morning or early afternoon. Impacts are likely to be seen in the upper reaches of the Eastern Yar at Arreton, Langbridge and Alverstone. Light showers are forecast for the remainder of today.
