We’re being urged to don our tassels and carry our torches this evening – in support of breast cancer.

The Pink On Wight campaign has organised a special walk between Sandown and Newport this evening, raising money to combat breast cancer. The fun walk starts at 8pm from Sandown Bay Academy and follows the cycle track route to Matalan in Newport.  Women are encouraged to pink bras over the top of their clothing and light them up – men are also being asked to join in the fun. Joy Stevenson from Pink On Wight said:

“Groups of women, or groups of men – it should be fun and if they have their dogs or children with them it should be really good.”

Transport from St George’s Park has been provided by Southern Vectis in the form of two buses which will leave the Newport football ground at 6.45pm, where parking is also free – pre booking is essential. Joy Stevenson has been overwhelmed by the level of support:

“We’ve already had 200 people register so far, and we ‘re hoping to have a few more on the night. We didn’t anticipate it being so popular!”

Registration for the event is just £10 per person and all the money will go to the Pink On Wight campaign. For further details of the event tonight, call Leanne on 857114
