A man who approached two teenage girls on the Isle of Wight pretending to be a police officer, has been bailed.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have bailed a 58-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a female, until October 18. The man was arrested in connection with two suspicious incidents on the Isle of Wight on Saturday (20 August) in which a man allegedly approached teenage girls in East Cowes and in Freshwater, claiming to be a police officer. Police are reminding parents, carers and young people on the Isle of Wight to remain alert – and reminding children that a genuine police officer would always show his or her warrant card. Police are also continuing to appeal to a couple who were walking a dog in the cemetery in Kingston Road on Saturday between 8pm and 9pm, to come forward, as they believe they could be key witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Isle of Wight Investigation Team on 101 and quote 44160313360.
