One of the Isle of Wight’s most iconic piers is celebrating its 140th anniversary with a special event today (Wednesday).
Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners are inviting visitors to a free event at Yarmouth Pier where you can learn about its story and get involved in a treasure hunt and making ‘piertoons’. Guests will also have the chance to listen to life under the waves with the help of a hydrophone. Tim Adams from Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners said:
“We hope that this event will be the first of many exciting activities on the Pier as we work towards the essential repairs next year. We have already had tremendous support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the west Wight community and those who enjoy the Pier as much as we do”.
The event, funded by the project development grant from Heritage Lottery Fund, will take place today from 2pm to 6pm.
