Medina Theatre will host a public meeting tonight (Wednesday) as the Isle of Wight Council reveals more about its bid to create a Solent Combined Authority.
The Isle of Wight Council favours a mayor-led option for the so-called Solent Deal and is working alongside colleagues in Portsmouth and Southampton. In reality a new Mayor is just one of a number of alternative plans being considered. You can see them all for yourself here. It is argued a combined authority will not mean a loss of power for the Island and could mean we are better off financially, both in terms of investment into the local infrastructure and when it comes to hanging on to the business rates generated here. Today’s consultation session runs from 4.30pm until 6.30pm.
