Yesterday (Sunday), Crowds turned up at the Sandown attraction to celebrate the opening of the compound with Isle of Wight Radio’s, Paul Topping cutting the tape.

It will be home to Capuchin and Spider monkeys and will allow visitors to see them demonstrate behaviours that you would normally see in the wild.

Director of the Isle of Wight Zoo, Charlotte Corney said:

“Its vitally important in every way, I mean obviously the animals always come first for us and these particular bunch of monkeys really deserved a new place to live.

“Providing them with their newly constructed enclosure, we’ve got a fantastic area where we can demonstrate to the visitors all the different behaviours these animals will naturally be exhibiting in the wild so it’s a win, win.”

The attraction is open between 10am and 4pm – 7 days a week.
