The Isle of Wight’s Rio Olympics 2016 star – Jess Andrews – is set to compete in this Sunday’s (23) Great South Run.
Jess has been troubled by illness recently and made her return to action in Girona, Spain – where she now lives – last weekend.
On Instagram, Jess posted this message to friends and supporters confirming she is taking part:
“So one week ago I was so poorly I was contemplating being able to run again (a little bit dramatic to say the least) but today I ran one of my favourite races in Girona. Of course the time wasn’t fast. But I had a lot of fun and support. First race of the season.. next week the great south run [sic].”
Jess – a former student at Sandown High School – took part in the 10,000 metres at the Olympics in August, finishing a hugely respectable 16th out of 37 runners, in a personal best time.
This Sunday, Jess will join thousands of others to run 10 miles around the streets of Portsmouth and Southsea.
