Ventnor RFC travelled away to Chipstead with a side mixed with debutants and experience to this rugby cup game – but fell short.

Chipstead put out their strongest side hoping to gain their first win this season.

The home side only scored three tries in the first half – none of which were converted. Ventnor lost Damien Marriott to injury and as a result went down to 14 men. Latterly Tristan Price also took leave from the pitch. The game was held in good spirits and a total reshuffle of the team lead to players gaining experience in positions unfamiliar to them.

Ventnor’s only points of the day came from a tap and go penalty from Ed Blake who ran from the defensive 22 all the way to the try line in the last play of the game.

The game finished Chipstead 44 – 7 Ventnor.
