More than 400 singers from community choirs across the Isle of Wight are singing together on the record Nobody Should Be Alone at Christmas Time, being sold to raise cash for the charity Independent Arts.

You can download Nobody Should Be Alone at Christmas Time from 2 December (Friday) and watch it here….

Released by the Island’s SingAbout groups, the song has been written and produced by local musicians Jason and Jessica Paine. Proceeds will raise money to help socially isolated Islanders.

People involved in the SingAbout project include those with long-term conditions such as dementia, lung conditions and depression. Others are recovering from stroke or heart problems. Independent Arts says most come along to sessions because they love how singing makes them feel.

The charity’s popular Singing for Breathing and SingAbout for Recovery (based at St Mary’s hospital) groups are among those taking part.

SingAbout Project Manager Hannah Griffiths said:

“It has been heart-warming to give our SingAbout participants the opportunity to be part of something as exciting as recording a Christmas Song. All the groups have been working hard to practice the song and the result is a real credit to them”
