Essential work to Fairlee Road will see it close overnight this week.

Island Roads will close the road between Binfield Corner and Fairlee Waste Water Treatment works, from 7.30pm on 27 April until 6.00am on 28 April. Residents have been asked to ensure there are no vehicles on the road that night and access to properties will be restricted.

It’s only a temporary fix before major work gets underway on the busy stretch of road in and out of Newport. Fairlee Road is set to undergo rebuilding and resurfacing as part of Island Road’s upgrade of the highway network.

Network Manager Kevin Burton said of the work this week:

“This is an important route into Newport which carries large volumes of traffic and we therefore need to keep the road suitably maintained until we are able to carry out the resurfacing work to upgrade and improve this vital route.

“By scheduling our work overnight, we hope to limit any disruption to drivers using this route and thank everyone in advance for their support whilst we complete this work.”

Southern Vectis will not be running buses along Fairlee Road overnight on the 27 April. Revised routes are available on their website.
