Isle Of Wight Floating Bridge: July’s Temporary Timetable

The new Floating Bridge’s temporary timetable has been extended, as the Isle of Wight Council continues to investigate problems that have included its grounding at low-tide, and cars scraping their bumpers as they get on and off.

Last night, a public meeting was held in East Cowes.

The Isle of Wight Council says the Cowes-East Cowes Chain Ferry will not run at the following times:

8.50am until 10.50am and 9.30pm until 11.30pm on Saturday 1 July
9.50am until 11.50am on Sunday 2 July (and the service will stop running at 10.30pm)
10.50am until 12.50pm on Monday 3 July (and the service will stop running at 11.30pm)
11.55am-1.55pm on Tuesday 4 July
12.50pm – 2.50pm on Wednesday 5 July
1.40pm until 3.40pm on Thursday 6 July
2.30pm until 4.30pm on Friday 7 July

The local authority says further chain adjustments and surveys are scheduled for 10 July. Its plan is to increasing the depth of the chains whilst maintaining a normal ferry service.
