An Isle of Wight schoolgirl has been injured after being involved in a collision with a car – which failed to stop at the scene.

The incident happened on Wellington Road in Carisbrooke – near to Christ the King College.

It’s alleged the girl was struck by the vehicle and received minor injuries.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson told Isle of Wight Radio:

“We received a report at 1.20pm on Thursday (13) regarding a collision involving a 13-year-old girl and a car which happened around 8.50am that day, on Wellington Road.

“The girl remained on her feet but suffered minor injuries. The car did not stop at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to locate the car which is described as blue.
