There will only be one route in and out of Bembridge from 7.30pm this evening (Monday).
Island Roads has confirmed it will be closing Sandown Road from Yaverland to Bembridge for planned overnight resurfacing works.
Meanwhile, Upper Green Road is closed in St Helens at the junction with Station Road for Southern Water works, meaning there is no access into Bembridge via that route.
The only way in and out of Bembridge is via Brading, Ryde (turning right at Westridge Garage), Nettlestone, Seaview and St Helens.
It means drivers face diversions of up to 10 miles to get in and out of Bembridge to the Propeller Inn, Sandhills Holiday Park and Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park until 6am tomorrow.
Island Roads has said if the weather is bad this evening, then the works might not go ahead.
A Southern Water spokesperson said:
“We are currently undertaking essential works on a collapsed manhole and drain in Upper Green Road, Ryde.
“A road closure and diversion route are in place to allow us to carry out the work as quickly and safely as possible.
“We have secured a seven day traffic management order from the council, which should allow us to complete the repair without having to apply for additional time. However, we are hoping to complete the work by the middle of this week.
“While the road closure is in place, there are clear signs to assist road users. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers in the area for their patience.”
