Two prisoners who scaled the roof at HMP Isle of Wight have been successfully brought down.
The pair managed to gain access to the roof around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), where they staged a 12-hour stand off with prison officers and police.
Two National Tactical Response Groups were brought in from the mainland to negotiate with the pair.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue were called back to the prison last night and used an Aerial Ladder Platform to bring the two men down.
Albany is a Category B prison and is located next to the Parkhurst site.
Last night, a Ministry of Justice Prison Service spokesperson said:
“Staff at HMP Albany are working to resolve a minor incident involving two prisoners. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
