Seven men have been arrested and face being deported from the UK following immigration raids at Indian restaurants in Cowes.
Immigration Enforcement officers visited two restaurants, Bahar Tandoori and Saffron Flavours of India, in Cowes last night (Thursday).
A Home Office spokesperson told Isle of Wight Radio:
“At Bahar Tandoori, on High Street, officers encountered four men, three Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian national, who have no right to work in the UK.
“Checks showed that three of the individuals, two aged 30 and one aged 47, had overstayed their visas. A 27-year-old was also found to have entered the UK illegally.
“At Saffron Flavours of India, on High Street, officers encountered three Bangladeshi men, aged 28, 33 and 53, who had overstayed their visas.”
