It has been seven years in the waiting and a £40 million investment, but one small detail was missed by supermarket giant Asda when it opened its Newport store at 10 am today (Monday).
Bags, designed especially for the store as part of a competition, include the phrase “Isle Of White”.
The design had to reflect the Island’s key landmarks, as well as what the children liked best about their home. The winning image was chosen from over 300 entries and was created by brothers Ciaran and Ryan Peterson, ten and eight. Their proud mum says the blunder was not down to them – the words “Isle of White” was added by Asda later.
The bags for life were being handed out at the store earlier.
Isle of Wight Radio has asked Asda for a comment.
