Some other homes are experiencing low pressure.

Isle of Wight Radio has asked Southern Water for an update.

*UPDATED 11.05am

*A Southern Water spokesperson said:

“We were alerted to a burst on a 12” main in East Cowes by one of our leakage alarms and immediately sent a specialist leakage team to investigate.

“Our crew worked through the night to locate, dig down and repair the main, which was completed by 4am.

“We managed to restore water to affected customers by rezoning supply but peak demand this morning proved too much for the temporary work-around, and so unfortunately some customers experienced issues with low pressure or no water at all.

“We are now slowly reintroducing supply through the repaired main, which may result in some customers experiencing low pressure or discoloured water. This is perfectly normal after a burst and supplies should return to normal shortly. We will continue to work closely with our vulnerable customers to support them during this time.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers for their patience while we carried out these emergency repairs.”
