Two Isle of Wight cousins have struck Gold in a National swimming competition.

The two Island Army Cadets have been making waves in the ACF National Swimming Championships recently, representing Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force.

As a result, Cadet L/Cpl Wiltshire and Cadet L/Cpl Carter from Ryde have scooped four medals between them.

Miss Wiltshire now has another 2 Gold medals from 100-metre swims, whilst Mr Carter grabbed 2 Bronze medals in the 50 metre Fly and relays.

After just three years they have 22 medals each, including 18 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze.

The annual National event looks for the best swimmers from regional competitions.

L/Cpl Carter says it’s important to share achievements made by Islanders:

“I’m very proud to have represented the Isle of Wight in Cadets at the nationals and show what Army Cadets here are capable of doing”

L/Cpl Wiltshire added,

“a lot of effort and hard work goes into our swimming but we enjoy it a lot and are proud to represent the County and C Company in winning our medals”

The ACF is a voluntary youth organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence.
