A life-saving piece of kit has been vandalised in Newport.
A defibrillator had been placed in a box outside Barton Primary School, so Islanders living on Pan Estate could have access to it during every hour the day or night.
The vandalism has been dubbed “an appalling act” by the Head of Ambulance Training and Community Response Services for the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
Louise Walker says she is shocked by the damage:
“It is an appalling act that has hugely disappointed the IW NHS Trust Ambulance Service who own and maintain the public access defibrillator.”
Isle of Wight Radio understands that Hampshire Constabulary has been informed.
