South Coast Leisure says it plans to create a “first-class” home for Newport Football Club off the Racecourse on Fairlee Road.
As reported by Isle of Wight Radio, plans for Newport Football Club’s new stadium have been submitted to Isle of Wight Council.
South Coast Leisure’s (SCL) proposals have been adapted after a consultation with residents, and feature a brand new floodlit pitch, main stand and function room.
Following the feedback, the proposed entrance is now via Whippingham Road, and cars would leave via a left only-turn from a newly-constructed feeder road onto Fairlee Road.
Planning agent for South Coast Leisure, Paul Airey said:
“We would like to thank all those who have helped us develop and refine these proposals. We have listened both to the needs of the football club and also to residents living near to the new ground and modified the proposals in line with comments received.
We believe this proposal will provide Newport Football Club and the wider community with a first-class and sustainable amenity which will integrate well into the site.”
The plans also now include additional landscaping and bunding, which SCL says the will help screen residents from activity at the ground.
