A dog that has been on the run in Ryde after escaping from a garden earlier this month, prompting a huge community appeal, has been safely recaptured.
Pluto, who was rehomed to the Isle of Wight from Cyprus, had been missing for 22 days.
His movements were tracked by hundreds of local people, in a massive effort to recapture him.
Feeding stations were set up and the dog was regularly sighted in the Ryde and Binstead areas. In one incident he was hit by a car and was spotted limping, but was still too fast to evade capture.
Tonight, Facebook group Lost Pets IOW and the Isle of Wight Animal Rescue Network are reporting that he has been safely trapped.
