Police are warning people to take extra care and not become a victim of romance fraud this Valentine’s Day.

Hampshire Constabulary says people have been targeted by scammers, who request money and then go on to trick the person into committing money laundering.

As a warning, police have released a video of ‘Jenny’s’ romance fraud, advising all of us to stay safer on Valentine’s Day.

A police spokesperson said:

“Help us to protect people cunning manipulation online. We give a service for fraud victims, recognised for its excellence in policing nationally.

“If you or someone you know is affected, please call us on 101 quoting Operation Signature.”
