Two people have escaped injury after being cut off by the tide in Ryde today (Wednesday).

A Maritime Coastguard spokesperson said it was called at 12.10pm by a member of the public who could see two females cut off by the tide, below Westfield Park.

Bembridge Coastguard and Ryde Rescue were sent to assist, but the two people managed to alert nearby homeowners who opened gate for them to scramble to safety.

HM Maritime Coastguard said the pair are safely shoreside and are being given safety advice by the coastguard teams.
