More than 50 properties have been affected by two separate power cuts on the Isle of Wight this evening (Tuesday).

In Shanklin, 33 homes have been without electricity for more than two hours.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks says an engineer is on site to carry out investigations into the cause of the fault.

Meanwhile, 21 properties in the Shafleet area lost power at 4.45pm.

SSEN says the cause was overhead lines in urgent need of repairs, and power was restored there at around 6pm.

According to SSEN, homes without power in the PO37 area should have supplies restored by 1.30am tomorrow morning (Thursday).
