Accountability Challenge For Isle Of Wight Council

Geoff Brodie at County Hall

A call will be made tonight (Wednesday) for greater accountability for the Isle of Wight Council’s leading Cabinet members.

The Councillor for Newport East wants the right to ask questions of Cabinet members, in public, at Full Council meetings, to be reinstated. It was abandoned by the local authority last year (2018).

In a motion due to be presented at County Hall, Cllr Brodie (Independent Labour) will say that even the Prime Minister and Cabinet are accountable to Parliament through PMQs and regular Ministerial Questions, with the media and public in attendance.
