Vehicles have been banned from parking on St Thomas’ Square in Newport.
The Isle of Wight Council’s traffic regulation order was due to come into effect from 18 May for a period of 18 months, but signage has been delayed.
A spokesperson said:
“Once signage is in place on the square, any breaches of parking in this area will be strictly enforced.
This order has been put in place to prevent dangerous and unlawful vehicle movements and parking to improve pedestrian safety and the appearance of the square.”
Vehicles wishing to park on the square will have to seek permission from the Isle of Wight Council.
