Bembridge RNLI was called to aid a man who had fallen off No Mans Land Fort in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

RNLB Alfred Albert Williams launched to No Mans Land Fort at 2.45 am, at the request of UK Solent Coastguard, following reports a member of staff had fallen into the water.

The 32-year-old male had been recovered from the water but had a suspected broken rib.

Bembridge’s all-weather lifeboat arrived just before 2.55am, to put two crew members onto the fort, and transfer the injured man into the lifeboat.

Having handed the casualty over to the Ambulance Service, the lifeboat subsequently returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 05:00.
