A temporary bridge – providing access to and from Newport Quay – has been installed ahead of the Isle of Wight Festival next weekend.
The bridge has a six-foot six-inches width restriction and will be used by vehicles in the build-up to and during the festival.
Residents of Newport have been calling for a bridge after the permanent one closed to traffic in August last year, due to structural issues.
Since then, some pedestrians have had to use a neighbouring footbridge in order to access the Quay area.
As things stand, the bridge – which has been arranged by festival organisers – will only be available for use until July 27.
