The number of people out of work and claiming jobseeker’s allowance on the Isle of Wight has fallen for a third month.

The number of people unemployed fell from 1,505 to 1,445 in May.

That’s a year-on-year fall of 5 jobseeker’s claimants.

Nationally the number of people in work has reached a new record high – 32-point-3-9 million had jobs in the three months to April.

Meanwhile official figures show average earnings increased by 2-point-5 percent in the year to April.
